Stopped by 10th Planet Costa Mesa this morning for their Sunday open mat. It is always packed with people at every level and everyone has a good attitude. That is one of the biggest reasons that I enjoy going there. You can actually train and practice bad position thanks to the guys there all putting their egos aside. Some gyms you visit and you don’t get to really practice because every guy is out for your head due to you being an outsider and it becomes competition.

The coach, Ron Turner, is also a super likable guy as a person. As a coach, he has an MMA background, so you know he isn’t just teaching the garbage sport grappling that people try to pass off as Brazilian Jiu Jitsu nowadays. Another nice surprise was seeing and training with an old Apex family member there that I haven’t seen in 8 years. The Apex illuminati is everywhere! ;P

All-in-all, I highly suggest that anyone in or near the area check out their open mat for some really solid training and a good time.
