April 2018 - Grappling Industries San Diego
by Maxamilian Demian on Apr 28, 2018
Grappling Industries had a tournament in San Diego today. Tameem wanted to compete in it, so we woke up early and made the two-hour trek down to SD.
Tameem competed in nogi advanced 155-170 lbs and ended up only having one person in his division. Since there were only 2 competitors in the division, they decided to do a best two-out-of-three.
Match 1, Tameem immediately sat to his opponents legs and locked up a Cummings-style reverse heel hook in 30 seconds or less.
Match 2, Tameem's opponent is a little more weary about letting Tameem near his legs. After attempting a dive pass, Tameem's opponent ended up in Tameem's half-guard without an underhook or overhook. Tameem moved to butterfly half-guard and elevated his opponent for a foot lock. Tameem's opponent attempted to spin out of the foot lock and ended up getting caught in a kneebar and tapping out in around a minute and a half.
