January 2018 - Bellator 193
by Maxamilian Demian on Jan 27, 2018
A week after Bellator 192, we are at the Pechanga Resort & Casino for Bellator 193. This time JJ Ambrose was fighting in the co-main event and Josh Jones was also fighting on the card.
JJ's lost a decision in his fight, but it was definitely a good fight. He fought against Saad Awad and it may be the best Saad I've ever seen in the cage. Saad is normally known for his power and early blitzes, but noticeably slowing down later in the fight. This fight, he fought much more composed and at a steady pace for 15 minutes. JJ fought to his gameplan, but Saad's changes in his own gameplan were smart and paid off. JJ had moments in the 2nd and 3rd rounds — landing takedowns and attacking submissions from the top position. But in the end Saad did more to take a very entertaining fight.
In Josh's fight, he got straight to business. After a minute, maybe a minute in a half on the feet, Josh starts going for his takedowns. His opponent keeps managing to get back up to his feet, but Josh is persistent and kept putting him back down with even bigger slams. At one point he even had a Matt Hughes-esque slam with his opponent on his shoulder and doing a running slam into the cage! After the fourth or fifth takedown, Josh ends up taking his opponents back and tapping him out with an RNC in the first round.
That's it for the 3 straight weeks of fights! A little break and we will see what comes next. I think there are a couple of Jiu Jitsu tournaments in both February and March. There is also a wrestling tournament in March that I am thinking about doing (I have never done a wrestling tournament before!.
