So the day after the Knockout Fights, we're in Dana Point for the Subfighter No Gi Spring Challenge. Another hectic tournament for us as usual with over a dozen students competing in kids, womens, mens, beginner, intermediate and advanced. Gabriel Green also had his CSULB film school buddies at the tournament filming for their senior thesis.

Not a whole lot to say about the tournament. As usual, most students took home medals and a few will improve and be in the running for a medal at the next tournament. One of the bigger things I noticed was that this tournament had less butt-flopping than I have seen in any tournament over the past 2-3 years. Hopefully that is a sign that people are realizing that you would get kicked in the face for doing that garbage in an actual fight (aka, the core of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu) and that the embarrassing butt-flop trend is dying.
