August brings us another California Xtreme Fighting show in Studio City, California. This time around we have Mark Alvidrez and Gabriel Green fighting on the card. Gabe is also fighting for the lightweight title in the main event.
This entry is a few weeks late as I've been preoccupied with work. But better late than never!
Friday, June 29 was Bellator 201 at the Pechanga Resort & Casino and we had Josh Jones on the card fighting Jacob Rosales.
Boxing judges have no business judging MMA fights.
Now that that's out of the way... Last night was another Fight Club OC at The Hangar in Costa Mesa. The show is a half boxing & half MMA. Any time you have a show like that, you run the risk of having boxing judges that are clueless about MMA, judging MMA fights. We only had one fighter on the card — Mark Alvidrez. So let's get to business and talk about the fight.
This past Saturday was another Knockout Fight League amateur MMA show. We had 2 fighters from our Subfighter on the card. Jeff Sutton — in his 3rd fight since training with us — and Andre Hudson, getting back in the cage for the first time this year. Andre hasn't been training lately due to work/school, but he took the fight to replace a fighter that pulled out when no other late replacement could be found.
Grappling Industries had a tournament in San Diego today. Tameem wanted to compete in it, so we woke up early and made the two-hour trek down to SD.
Tameem competed in nogi advanced 155-170 lbs and ended up only having one person in his division. Since there were only 2 competitors in the division, they decided to do a best two-out-of-three.
Match 1, Tameem immediately sat to his opponents legs and locked up a Cummings-style reverse heel hook in 30 seconds or less.
